Retaining Kae's voice-
'That is why I'm hear to tell you a story, a very Kurdish story.
[Book enters frame from top, Front cover- 'A KURDISH STORY']
About War, or Peace.
[The book flicks through a series of pages]
It starts in 1916, during the first world war.
[This page reads 1916, a visual of barbed wire and a soldier running traverses the two pages.]
When two men, British and French Diplomats, called Sykes and Picot, met secretly to divide the middle east.
[Sykes on left, Picot on right page, textual aid beneath both. Page Turn]
Thereby cutting right into the heart of Kurdistan.
[Map of Kurdistan prior to Sykes-Picot, lines tracing across its surface and titles to represent Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran.]
They didn't give a damn about the welfare of my people and their homeland. Their only interest was to colonise our land and exploit its oil.
[The Kurdish map becomes flooded with black moving in a liquid motion. The liquid fills both pages and drips off the pages of the book onto Background].
Kurdistan was wiped off the map
The Kurdish people were suddenly stateless, and dispersed across Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq.
[Kae speaks these last lines, he closes the book.]
